Executive Functioning & Organization Support

One-on-one executive functioning coaching in San Francisco and the Bay Area for middle school, high school, and college students.

Some students aren't struggling because they're incapable—they're struggling because no one has ever taught them how to organize their work, plan ahead, manage their time, or break large assignments into manageable steps.

I work with students who are bright, capable, and often frustrated. Together we build practical systems for organization, planning, follow-through, and accountability that reduce stress while improving academic performance. The goal isn't simply getting homework done this week. It's helping students become organized, independent learners so school becomes less stressful for the whole family.

Who This Service Is For

  • Students whose grades don't reflect what they're capable of

  • Students who consistently forget to turn in completed work

  • Students who wait until the night before projects are due

  • Students who feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start

  • Students with ADHD or executive functioning challenges

  • Students who are capable but underperform because of organization and follow-through

Within a month, the transformation was remarkable. Grades improved, motivation returned, and organization became a priority. Most importantly, my child actually looked forward to their sessions with Dan.

Executive Functioning FAQs

1. What is executive functioning coaching?

Executive functioning coaching helps students develop the planning, organization, time management, and follow-through skills needed to succeed in school. Rather than focusing on a single subject, sessions teach practical organization strategies and habits that help students manage assignments, meet deadlines, and become more independent learners… without feeling like a chore.

2. Is executive functioning coaching only for students with ADHD?

No. While many students with ADHD benefit from executive functioning support, many others simply struggle with organization, planning, procrastination, or managing increasing academic demands. These skills can benefit almost any student.

3. What age students do you work with?

I work with middle school, high school, and college students. Executive functioning challenges often become more noticeable as students take on heavier workloads and greater independence.

4. How is executive functioning coaching different from tutoring?

Traditional tutoring focuses on learning academic content. Executive functioning coaching focuses on how students approach learning: developing organization systems, planning strategies, time management, and accountability that improve performance across every subject.

5. Can executive functioning coaching improve grades?

Often, yes. Many capable students already understand the material but lose points because of missing assignments, poor organization, rushed work, or ineffective study habits. Strengthening executive functioning skills frequently leads to improved academic performance alongside reduced stress. Executive functioning along with academic tutoring is extremely powerful for getting students on a positive academic track.

6. Do parents participate in sessions?

Parents often play an important role, especially at the beginning. Depending on the student's age and needs, we may discuss goals, progress, and ways to reinforce new systems at home while gradually helping the student become more independent. While parents input is often not necessary for success, I keep parents informed with post session progress reports and let them know if there’s a way they can support the process.

7. How long does it take to see improvement?

Every student is different. Some families notice improvements within a few weeks, while building lasting habits usually takes longer. The goal isn't simply solving today's homework problems, it's helping students develop a clear and reliable system for staying organized and confident no matter what school throws their way. These are skills they can continue using independently both in and out of school.

8. Can executive functioning coaching be combined with academic tutoring?

Absolutely. Many students benefit from combining executive functioning coaching with subject tutoring. Building stronger organizational habits often makes math, science, writing, and test preparation more effective because students know how to plan, study, and manage their workload.
